Director of the DC Youth Corps

 

Mike Nabil is the Director of the DC Youth Corps. He is a full-stack software engineer and a tech educator. He is a fan of automation and application security, and an advocate of online privacy, open source software, and diversity in tech. He is a contributor to CodeWars, a community of 400 thousand programmers, where he appears on its leaderboard.

Mike is an advocate for the rights of immigrants and refugees in the United States. He is a member of the advisory board of AsylumConnect, a nonprofit startup advocating for the rights of LGBTQ asylum seekers in the United States. Previously, he led the social media team of PCC4Refugees, an organization of returned Peace Corps volunteers which supports refugees worldwide.

Mike’s background is in human rights advocacy. He was one of the leading figures of the Egyptian uprising in 2011. He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize because of his work on democracy and peace in the Middle East.
